NRM Search Engine help
You can use the NRM Search Engine to do both simple and advanced searches. The Engine will search across the databases on this website and across a number of trusted, Australian NRM websites.
Simple search
- This is the default search at the top right hand corner of every page.
- Enter a search term into the text box and click go or enter on your keyboard to search both the NRM Toolbar databases and selected Australian NRM websites.
- Searching is not case-sensitive, so Salinity and salinity will retrieve the same results.
- If you search for native vegetation the search will retrieve records which contain both words 'native' and 'vegetation'. Putting double quotation marks "native vegetation" will only return those items with the two words together. This will provide a smaller but often more relevant set of results.
Advanced search
- The advanced search enables you to better focus your search.
- Enter a term into the search box. This can be a single keyword, keywords or phrase. Individual words are likely to give you the most results. A phrase will give you the smallest number of results.
You can then either:
a. Search by content type.
OR
b. Specify the sources, from the list provided, that you want the NRM Search Engine to search across.
- All sources are ticked as the default.
- To refine your search, remove the tick from the boxes beside the sources you do not want to search.
- Sources that it is possible for you to search across are:
- Australian Agriculture and Natural Resources Online (AANRO)
- NRM Toolbar databases (eg. Brokers, Decision Support Tool, Events etc)
- livestock e-library
- Australian Spatial Data Directory (ASDD)
- National Library (NLA Bibliographic Database)
- Other related websites
Search results
The result details will vary depending on the source they are drawn from but all results include a title, a URL and a description. Search results also include the date the record was published.
