Rangeland surveys map and describe the outback to help evaluate whether current land uses are appropriate and to highlight areas with the potential for other land uses. The information can also be used to help minimize adverse environmental impacts, restore damaged areas and better use natural resources in a sustainable fashion. Rangeland condition assessment involves rating the degree of disruption or modification of native ecosystems. A scale of one to five is used (A).
